My ego is bruised more.
Yesterday in woodshop, I was teaching a shop safety course for a first year who hadn't taken it yet. We go to the drill press and I explain to her how it works and I ask her if she would like me to demonstrate. She says yes, so I find a piece of material to cut. Karni had just used the machine with a 3/4" bit, so I just use that. I get all the way through the piece of plywood and I look up at the girl to give her a piece of instruction, and my grip slips and the bit picks up the piece of wood and starts spinning it really fast, smashing it into my hand. It's bruised and swollen, but the cuts aren't bad. HR sent me to their occupational medical center and the doctor there is having me come back tomorrow because he is worried that there is numbness and pain along the nerve into my shoulder.
